Scooter's Pals offers numerous programs for dogs.

Rescue & Adoption Program — Scooter's Pals rescues dogs scheduled to die in high-kill shelters. They spay/neuter, fully vaccinate, and give any vet care needed. They also provide foster care or interim boarding, including all food and vet care, till a good-fit, adoptive family is found.

As soon as a dog is deemed ready to be adopted, they add the dog's write--up, photo(s), and foster contact info to our Adoptable listings on Petfinder.com.

Their dedicated adoption team carefully reviews the adoption applications received for each dog (applications are required). They also conduct interviews and do a home check in an effort to find the best, good-fit match for each dog and each family, too.

Coordinated Entry callers will speak to a 211 call specialist who will walk them through a series of questions. The caller’s answers are entered by the 211 call specialist into HUD’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), which can be accessed only by designated organizations that provide housing services. Callers have access to emergency shelter as well as long term/permanent housing by going through the Coordinated Entry process.

The Homeless Outreach and Medical Engagement (HOME) Team is a partnership between Nevada County, Hospitality House, Turning Point Community Programs and AMI Housing.

Call the HOME Team if you see or know someone who is experiencing homelessness. The HOME Team helps connect homeless individuals to services, including mental health services, medical care, public assistance services, and housing assistance services. 

The team can be reached by calling 530-470-2686 or emailing home@nevadacountyca.gov.
 
The HOME team consists of eight members: four outreach workers, housing navigators a peer supporter (someone with lived experience with homelessness), and a registered nurse. The goal of the team is to identify, engage, provide case management and housing support to highly vulnerable homeless residents of Nevada County.
