The Seniors First Information & Assistance Program is a resource for senior-focused programs, services and assistance. The program is designed to assist Placer County seniors age 60 and older get the resources and assistance they need to remain healthy and independent. They also welcome calls from family members, caregivers and other interested parties who are assisting seniors in getting the services they need.

Seniors First can provide information in multiple languages via a language translation service.

If you live outside of Placer County or do not meet their age criteria, they may be able to direct you to the agency or organization that can help you.

Auburn Adventist Community Services, at the Auburn Seventh-day Adventist Church, has been around since the 1970s and offers a variety of services for families and individuals who are in need, out of work or simply find that the month lasts longer than the paychecks every once in a while. Call to confirm the days and times that services are available. 530-823-0345

Services include:
  • Clothing closet.  Tuesdays, 9 am - 12 noon.
  • Food pantry.  Tuesdays, 9 am - 12 noon.
  • Showers for unsheltered people are available Monday (9 am - 12 noon. Will have to walk upstairs).  For handicapped showers available Monday, call ahead of time for ARC (530-887-8673) located in the back of the parking lot.

AMI's Sun Rose Apartments are studio apartments with full kitchens and private bathrooms, ADA units and hearing-impaired units. Studio sizes are typically 350 sq. ft., however, some of the units are up to 500 sq. ft. and can accommodate 2 possibly 3 person households (small child and 2 parents).

Eligibility requirements
Individual or household must be Placer County residents, experiencing homelessness, and very low income. They are preferencing individuals/households with Housing Choice Vouchers or Section 8 variants AND high vulnerability index scores. The community features 78 modern, affordable homes conveniently located near shopping, restaurants, grovery stores and medical facilities.  20 homes are set aside for No Place Like Home recipients.

Each Mercy Housing community has its own leasing office and its own application process. Please call each community directly if you or your family would like to rent a low-income apartment home at one of Mercy Housing’s communities. When you call, the community staff can answer questions regarding apartment availability, rent, income requirements or restrictions and how to obtain an application for housing.
