Vitalant in Grass Valley provides blood and blood services to regional hospitals. Vitalant Grass Valley (formerly BloodSource) works with community members to have volunteer donors give in different ways to help patients in need.

There are different eligibility guidelines for different donation types, e.g. platelet donation. You can learn more at Vitalant.org or call 877-258-4825 if you have questions about eligibility. Donors can give whole blood, red blood cells, platelets, or plasma. All blood types are needed.

Performs comprehensive blood donor testing; specialty laboratories address rare blood needs and compatibility testing for marrow/blood/stem cell/organ transplantation testing.

Description

The Center provides peer support, independent living instruction, social contacts, and resources for visually impaired adults every Wednesday 10am-12pm. Class meets at Unity of Auburn, 1212 High Street in Auburn. Braille reading and writing instruction as well as introduction to white cane travel are available. Technology workshops, musical entertainment, pot luck lunches, and field trips are also part of our program.

The Center for Visually Impaired Adults serves seniors every Wednesday morning, 10:00a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at: 1212 High Street, Auburn, CA 95603. The state of California announced changes to masking guidance on February 28, 2022:
  • Effective March 1, 2022 , the requirement that unvaccinated individuals mask in indoor public settings will move to a strong recommendation that all persons, regardless of vaccine status, continue indoor masking. 
  • Universal masking shall remain required in specified high-risk high transmission settings like public transit, emergency shelters, health care settings, correctional facilities, homeless shelters and long-term care facilities. The Defensible Space Advisory Visit program provides a one-on-one consultation and advice at your home for comprehensive education on compliance with Public Resource Code 4291 – the law that requires defensible space around structures. PRC 4291 was expanded in 2005 from 30 feet to 100 feet of clearance.
