In some cases, thieves try to apply for FEMA assistance using names, addresses and Social Security numbers they have stolen from survivors.

  • Federal and local disaster workers do not solicit or accept money. Don’t believe anyone who promises a disaster grant in return for payment. 
  • U.S. Small Business Administration representatives never charge applicants for disaster assistance, inspections or help in filling out applications.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention offers Personal Support for Survivors of Suicide Loss

Healing Conversations – formerly known as the Survivor Outreach Program – gives those who have lost someone to suicide the opportunity to talk with our experienced volunteers. These AFSP volunteers, who are themselves survivors of suicide loss, offer understanding and guidance in the weeks and months following a suicide death.

Available in person, on the phone, or by video chat, volunteers are familiar with the isolation that so often accompanies death of this kind, and can show suicide loss survivors a way forward into a world of support, by creating an opportunity for the newly bereaved to speak openly with, and ask questions of, someone who has been there too.

When someone contacts AFSP to request a conversation, AFSP will ask them some questions about their loss, so that they may match them with a suitable volunteer who has experienced a similar loss. Their peer support volunteer wil… [read more]

Auburn Interfaith Food Closet (AIFC) provides a Homebound Delivery Program (HBSD) - Since 2020, AIFC has a new program to deliver groceries once a month to low-income homebound persons (within their service area). AIFC will provide HBSD participants with enough food each month to make 12 nutritious meals. 

The home delivery service is not on-demand, but occurs monthly on a pre-established schedule. Each guest's order is customized monthly, to best serve their needs.

Amount of food
Each month, HBSD participants receive four days' worth of age-appropriate food for each member of their household.
