The Seniors First Information & Assistance Program is a resource for senior-focused programs, services and assistance. The program is designed to assist Placer County seniors age 60 and older get the resources and assistance they need to remain healthy and independent. They also welcome calls from family members, caregivers and other interested parties who are assisting seniors in getting the services they need.

Seniors First can provide information in multiple languages via a language translation service.

If you live outside of Placer County or do not meet their age criteria, they may be able to direct you to the agency or organization that can help you.

Seniors First offers Meals on Wheels and Senior Cafes.

Meals on Wheels
A service designed to help Older Adults Age in Place by targeting people who are home alone during the day and who have difficulty preparing simple meals. For clients who need the service temporarily.

Eligibility:
At the time services are provided, clients shall be:
  • 60 years of age or older, sufficiently functionally impaired and homebound; or,
  • The spouse, of any age, of an eligible client; or,
  • A person with a disability (of any age) who lives with an eligible client.
Easy
Hot meals are delivered to the door Monday through Friday (except for holidays)

Fresh & Healthy
Meals are prepared fresh daily in accordance with nutritional guidelines for seniors

Flexible
We offer regular service to those seniors who are homebound, as well as short term services for those recuperating from recent illness, hospitalization or convalescent care.

Seniors First's Telephone Reassurance Program provides homebound seniors with “social calls” by screened and trained volunteers. The purpose of this free program is to alleviate the loneliness and isolation older adults often experience when living alone, or when residing in a rural area with limited access to transportation or social activities.

Call Reassurance provide weekly in-home social calls and also serve as a resource on community services and programs that can help the client retain their independence and remain in their home as long as they choose.

We have seniors throughout Placer County who would like a Friendly Call. If you have an hour a week you could brighten the life of a home-bound senior.

Auburn Loop

The Auburn Loop is Auburn Transit’s deviated fixed route service. It provides direct transportation to and from any Auburn Loop bus stop as well as deviations up to ½ mile throughout the City and parts of surrounding Placer County.

Perinatal Substance Use Services are a part of Adult System of Care, one of six Divisions of County of Placer Health & Human Services.

This program provides substance use services for mothers and mothers-to-be who want a clean and sober life. If you are pregnant, have children under 17, and/or are attempting to regain custody of children while trying to address your substance use, you may qualify for a variety of services and supports.

We welcome women who, in addition to substance use issues, may have mental health issues that contribute to the current circumstances. Examples of such needs may be feelings of anxiety or depression, which often accompany substance use. Services range from outpatient, detoxification, and residential and transitional housing. Some services may even include child care (while you receive treatment) and help with transportation to program.

Blossom Place provides safe housing, one-on-one support, and resources so former foster and at-risk young women ages 18-24 can learn life skills, achieve their goals, and gain the confidence to blossom into who they are meant to be.

Blossom Place believes one's basic needs of housing, food, clothing, and safety need to be met before you can move on to accomplish other goals. The Independence Plan is a step-by-step plan that moves a young woman through basic needs and into goals and dreams. With a mentor, a counselor, and a Blossom partner who acts case manager alongside her, she will work through education, career, health, transportation, and relationship goals. She'll learn time management, budgeting, cooking, cleaning, stress management, and parenting skills. The ultimate goal is for each girl to have all the pieces of the puzzle in place, and all the skills and the confidence in herself to successfully move on to independent living.
