Nevada County Public Health Department (NCPHD) provides information about communicable diseases, reporting requirements, disease prevention, and related health information. The Communicable Disease Program works to stop transmission and minimize complications associated with communicable infections and diseases.

If people have questions about COVID-19, Long COVID, or other communicable diseases, the Public Health team is available during regular business hours to answer questions at 530-265-7258. Depending on supply, the department may have COVID-19 home antigen tests available to community members which can be obtained by calling NCPHD.

Placer County Public Health Department (PCPHD) partners with medical care providers in the community, and the California Department of Public Health, to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases. We investigate and follow-up on reported cases and their contacts. Staff provide education to individuals and in group settings, and surveillance duties to reduce incidents and prevent additional cases.

Insurance:
Call or visit online to see if your insurance is accepted and may help to cover the cost. A​ll patients need to see a provider at Sierra Doctors Medical Group first for COVID-19 tests to be covered by insurance (if your insurance is accepted). There may be a co-pay at the time of the visit.

Cost:
Rapid COVID-19 tests may cost $125. COVID-19 tests, if sent to a lab, will result in a cost sent to the patient from the lab.

Chapa-De offers free COVID-19 vaccines and boosters to patients established in any Chapa-De Department and to all American Indian community members age 5 and over.

We have all three types of vaccines and boosters; Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson

A vaccine appointment is required for ages 5-11 to receive a COVID vaccine.

COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are available by appointment or on a walk-in basis to ages 12 and over. Walk-in, no appointment necessary Monday thru Friday 8:30 AM – 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM (excluding holidays).
