ADDITIONAL DOSES OF COVID-19-VACCINE info as of 8/18/21
There are two types of additional shots: third doses and booster shots. This information applies only to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Additional shots of the Johnson & Johnson are under consideration but there is no information at this time.
  • Third doses of the vaccine have been approved by the FDA and CDC for very specific populations that are particularly vulnerable. This group of people is outlined on the state’s website. See link below. If someone belongs to one of these groups, they need to contact their primary care physician, since getting the third dose will require approval from their doctor. https://covid19.ca.gov/vaccines/#Booster-shots-and-additional-doses

Nevada County has a stand-by process for people trying to get vaccinated at the Grass Valley sites (Whispering Pines or Crown Point). It requires those signing up have a phone, and they can potentially get a call when extra doses are available, i.e. if somebody has cancelled their vaccine appointment. Once notified, people will have anywhere from 15 minutes to 4 hours to get to the site to be vaccinated.

Sign up for "Standy-By" with this form:
http://mynevadacounty.com/coronavirus/standby

Being on this list doesn't guarantee you will be vaccinated, but it provides another possible avenue to get your shots.
