The Public Works Department is responsible for providing road maintenance, drainage maintenance, street sweeping, striping of public parking stalls and crosswalks, stenciling of streets, and sign maintenance. During weather emergency events Truckee Public Works puts out bags and sand for a self-service sandbag distribution. When this occures it will be posted on their website.

Truckee Fire Protection District has 8 locations to serve the community:  

STATION 91
10049 Donner Pass Road  
Station 91 is where you can locate the Administration office, Fire Prevention bureau, and the Wildfire Prevention division.
Main access to the offices are through the door facing Donner Pass Road at the front of the station and up the center staircase. Here you will find the offices of the Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, Division Chiefs, Public Information Officer, Wildfire Prevention, and Administrative staff.
Open Mon-Fri 8:00am to 4:30pm (excluding holidays). Closed from 12pm-1pm for lunch.

STATION 92

Station 92 is the "main station", located in the center of the Fire District. This station houses the Office of the Battalion Chief and is staffed on a full-time basis by a Fire Captain and three Firefighter/Paramedics.

Adventure Risk Challenge (ARC) is an innovative literacy and leadership program for high school youth, linking wilderness to academics, adventure to leadership, environmental science to literacy and confidence to activism. Their transformative year-round program improves academic skills, exposes youth to a range of natural environments and wilderness experiences, and inspires the confidence they need to envision and accomplish goals, succeed in high school, attend college, and become engaged, empowered citizens. Weekend programs and trips occur throughout the year. Youth who participate in Summer Immersion Courses can receive mentoring throughout the school year.

Child Care Provider Referrals
SNCS offers referrals to child care providers in Nevada & Sierra Counties. They can also help with finding child care providers who offer specialized care, and those participating in Early Quality Matters (EQM), a program that provides Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) developmental screening for all children enrolled.

Financial Assistance for Eligible Families
SNCS offers child care financial assistance programs to eligible Nevada and Sierra County residents. When funding allows, SNCS opens enrollment to new families based on their Childcare Eligibility List (CEL). See link to list below.

Playgroups
Sierra Nevada Children's Services (SNCS) offers free or low-cost playgroups and workshops with hands-on activities for children, parents, and caregivers. A trained facilitator guides parents on the value of interactive play with their infants and toddlers. Activities include social development and skills, language, fine motor, gross motor, creative expression, nutrition, and developing curiosity and wonder.

Learning Center
The Learning Center in Grass Valley includes a Resource Library and Play Space that is open to the public when not in use. Parents and providers can become members of the lending library and borrow a variety of developmentally appropriate toys and materials for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school age children, and children with special need. SNCS also offers Child Development Lending Libraries at the Truckee and Loyalton office locations. Please call these locations first to check availability.
