Sierra Community House can provide rental assistance to qualifying individuals and households who live in Tahoe and Truckee.

Screening and Applications
Sierra Community House will screen households to assist each community member who may qualify. If households qualify, Sierra Community House will go through the application process with them so that the household may receive assistance with their rental payments.

The rental assistance scope includes anyone in Placer or Nevada counties who specifically resides in Tahoe and Truckee areas.

This is a Ready to Grow (R2G) resource. Ready to Grow is a First 5 Nevada County program to connect children 0-5 with services and information that support their well-being. Organizations with programs that have this R2G tag may have additional programs of interest to families.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, services are being provided by phone and email only.

The Self-Help Center provides the resources citizens need to better understand the legal process and/or represent themselves in a court case. In addition to the Services and Resources listed below, the Center provides the services of the Family Law Facilitator and Small Claims Advisor.

We are a walk in clinic. All services are free of charge and offered on a first come/first served basis. We do charge a small fee for copies and form packets.

The Self-Help Center also provides information and education on Alternative Dispute Resolution.  This alternative form of civil litigation is less formal, less expensive and often a faster method to resolve a conflict between two parties.

The Superior Court is a court of original jurisdiction and is the highest level of trial court in the county and state. It has jurisdiction on all cases of equity, cases involving titles to and possession of real property, civil cases, criminal cases, small claims cases, probate and family law matters, adoptions, mental health and juvenile cases.

Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) is providing free "Grab and Go" meals for all children and young adults with disabilities (age 24 and younger). Each Wednesday or Thursday, seven days of meals will be offered including 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, fresh fruits, vegetables, and milk. Tahoe Truckee Unified School District provides information for planned power outages which are commonly known as Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and/or Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) events. TTUSD has been notified that TTUSD's energy providers may turn off electricity throughout the school district when extreme fire danger conditions are forecast.

Dangerous conditions include:

• Red flag warnings
• Low humidity
• High winds
• Dry conditions

Timing of a planned power outage?
While these kinds of events can be unpredictable, our energy providers have committed to notifying the public as far in advance as possible. Please note that planned power outages could last as long as 24-48 hours!
