July 2022 update on SB1383 & AB1826
Food waste collection service for businesses and residences in Nevada County, Grass Valley and Nevada City is on the way. Until announced, keep putting your food waste in your trash, and keep it out of the green waste cart!

California State Laws SB1383 & AB1826 require collection of organic materials such as food scraps, and food-spoiled paper in addition to landscape trimmings. Nevada County currently does not have the infrastructure to support these laws at the scale needed until the transfer station update project is completed. Food diversion updates will be provided by WM of Nevada County and your local government.

If you would like to practice food diversion now, donate unopened edible food to community food banks and start composting in your yard or find a farmer to give your scraps to.

Let's Talk Nevada County
Let’s Talk Nevada County is a campaign to promote awareness of wellness strategies and resources and encourage conversations about how we’re feeling during times of stress. It was started during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The goal is to build resiliency within our community, and to remind everyone that self-care is critical, as is connection with our natural networks of support.  When we need more support than our friends and family are able to provide us, professional helping services are available too. It’s ok not to be ok all the time.

PLACER-NEVADA RX DRUG SAFETY COALITION - PNCMS

PLACER-NEVADA COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY #70007922

location_on G
  • 4220 Rocklin Rd, Suite 5
    Rocklin, Placer

In case of a medical emergency call 911 immediately. The Placer-Nevada Rx Drug Safety Coalition is a source of naloxone. Naloxone is a medication used to rapidly reverse opioid overdose. It can reverse and block the effects of opioids such as such as heroin, fentanyl, morphine, codeine, and oxycodone. Administered when a patient is showing signs of opioid overdose, naloxone’s overdose reversal is a temporary treatment and its effects do not last long. So call 911 immediately after administering/receiving naloxone (NARCAN is a brand of naloxone). Naloxone is easy to learn to administer and is an important drug safety resource. We can provide technical assistance for your organization to receive your own supply of NARCAN as well.
