Provides assistance to eligible aged, blind and disabled individuals who are unable to remain safely in their own homes without this assistance. Offers an alternative to out of home care, such as skilled nursing or board and care.

Works with the Connecting Point Public Authority to provide a list of contracted IHSS care providers including community care providers, friends, neighbors, and relatives. Services provided could include: household chores, personal care services, transportation and accompaniment to medical appointments, protective supervision, paramedical services as ordered by a physician, help with mobility inside and outside the home, and other services per State guidelines.

Maintains a registry of independent home care providers. Refers home care providers to seniors and people with disabilities who qualify for In-Home Supportive Services and need assistance with domestic tasks and personal care. Refers home care providers to consumers who do not qualify for IHSS through a private pay registry. Assists care providers in completing the steps to register as an IHSS provider, including orientation, paperwork, and Live Scan fingerprinting. Assists IHSS providers with timesheets and payroll. Provides health benefits to eligible IHSS providers. Offers online and in-person training to care providers, consumers, or anyone interested in improving their skills.

This resource is eligible for electronic referral. Provides in-home assessments for caregivers and loved ones to help create a specific plan to assist the in-home caregiver with respite and other resources.

Provides volunteer respite caregivers at no cost.

Because the senior population within Placer County is significant, Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital and Sutter Roseville Medical Center have multiple community programs that focus on creating better health care access for those 60 years and older and the disabled.

Sutter partners with Seniors First to provide the Senior Recreation and Respite Program (R & R) is designed to meet the needs of older adults with memory or physical impairment.

The program provides recreational, social and educational activities for the participants and respite for caregivers to enjoy some free time to themselves. The Seniors First staff is supported by its valuable team of volunteers and completed by personal care aides. R & R meets two times a week at the Seniors First office in Auburn and four times a week at the Twelve Bridges Library in Lincoln.
