The California Department of Rehabilitation offers vocational rehabilitation services for Californians with disabilities to obtain and retain employment and maximize their ability to live independently in their communities. Provides career assessment and counseling, job search and interview skills, independent living skills, career education and training, information and referral assistance, and assistive technology information.


 

The Community Assistance Center is made up of three shelters (Men's, Women's, and Family Shelter), a Triage Center, and the CIT offices.

Family Shelter 775-322-9574. The Family Shelter provides shelter for up to 21 homeless families and 6 pregnant women or women with an infant.

Men's Shelter 775-329-4141. The Men's Shelter is a short-term emergency shelter for adult men. An additional 66 individuals can utilize the day room during inclement weather.

Women's Shelter 775-329-4145. The Women's Shelter is a short-term emergency shelter for adult women.

Triage Center 775-348-8811. The Community Triage Center in Reno provides safe, medically-supervised detoxification services to those seeking treatment for substance abuse, as well as crisis stabilization services for persons with mental health issues.

Provides a range of solutions to overcome barriers to employment and succeed in the workplace. Services are designed to meet each individual's needs and interests and include assessment, career planning, training, placement, on-the-job support, follow-up, and case management.





 

This resource is eligible for electronic referral. Provides support for individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) to reintegrate into the community, attend a weekly support group, receive supported living services, vocational services, or other independent living services.

The Social Security Administration's Ticket to Work Program supports career development for Social Security disability beneficiaries age 18 through 64 who want to work. The Ticket Program is free and voluntary. The Ticket Program helps people with disabilities progress toward financial independence. Individuals who receive Social Security benefits because of a disability and are age 18 through 64 probably already qualify for the program.
