AMI Housing, Inc (AMIH) is a California nonprofit that provides housing, employment and life skills programs to residents of Nevada County and Placer County who otherwise might be homeless. Nevada County residents must be clients of Turning Point.

All AMI programs require:

  • proof of county residency for 14 days before being eligible for funding
  • current income that can support housing costs going forward after any funding assistance from AMIH

AMIH offers assistance in multiple languages through a Language Line service.

About the TAY program

  • AMIH has funding for specific programs to serve Transition Age Youth (TAY) ages 18-24 in PLACER COUNTY. Nevada County does not have TAY (Transition Age Youth) specific funds via AMIH. In NC any funding AMIH may have for housing is all one pot. AMI Housing screens people with a mental health diagnosis for tranistional housing. Community members can call the main office to leave a message: 530-878-5088 option 2. Placer County residents only.

All AMI programs require:

Unity Care  works to provide safe, stable and affordable housing for youth and young adults as they age out of foster care, and to provide them with the supportive services they need to achieve self-sufficiency.

Unity Care Housing Programs

  • Transitional Housing Program (THP) - must be referred by case worker. Program eligibility: Ages 18-20 years old, residing in western Placer County, early onset mental health symptoms, former foster youth receiving AB12 benefits.
  • Rapid Rehousing (RRH) - Program eligibility: Ages 18-25. At risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness in Roseville or Rocklin.
  • Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) program - Program eligibility: Ages 16-25. At risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness in western Placer County.

Transitional Housing:
Through a fleet of Recreational Vehicles or RV's, we are able to provide a transitional housing environment to individuals, couples, or families to have a safe space to live for up to 12 months. We want to help them experience safety, love, and healing so they can overcome the hurdles that led to their circumstances of homelessness.

Requirements:
Each household is required to pay a small program fee, meet with a mentor/case manager, must have a part- or full-time job, and save money each month towards future housing.
