California Children’s Services (CCS) is a statewide program that arranges, directs, and pays for medically necessary medical care, equipment, and rehabilitation services for eligible children and young adults under age 21 who have qualifying medical conditions. Services must be authorized by CCS and are intended to support families who are unable to pay for all or part of the cost of care.


CCS may cover specialty medical care, diagnostic services, medical therapy, durable medical equipment, and rehabilitative services related to CCS‑eligible conditions, which generally include physical disabilities or conditions requiring medical, surgical, or rehabilitative treatment.

Eligibility:

  • Child or young adult must be under 21 years of age
  • Must be a resident of the California County where the application is submitted
  • Must have a CCS-eligible medical condition, typically one that is physically disabling or requires specialized medical, surgical, or rehabilitative services

Placer County Public Health provides a Immunization Program.  This program provides vaccine information including safety-net clinics for eligible children and limited COVID-19 vaccinations for uninsured adults.

Services include:

  • Flu, COVID-19, and routine vaccines for children and adults
  • Safety-net immunization clinics for VFC-eligible children ages 4–18
