Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) operates temporary Community Resource Centers (CRCs) in Placer County during Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events. CRCs offer essential services to individuals impacted by power outages initiated for wildfire prevention.

Services include:

  • Offering charging stations for small electronic devices
  • Operating accessible restrooms

Pioneer Community Energy is a Community Choice Aggregator (CCA) that was formed in 2017. CCAs are not-for-profit public agencies that purchase electricity for residents and businesses in the community, leading to more competitive energy rates. Pioneer is one of 24 operational CCAs in California. CCAs work with investor-owned utilities (IOUs) like PG&E. PG&E maintains the physical infrastructure, delivers the power, and provides the billing service.

Pioneer serves large areas of Placer and El Dorado counties and the Cities of Grass Valley and Nevada City in Nevada County.

The Placer-Nevada Rx Drug Safety Coalition promotes safe medication use and disposal throughout Placer and Nevada counties. 

The coalition works to prevent prescription drug misuse by distributing naloxone and educating the public about harm reduction strategies.

Crisis counseling
Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking can obtain crisis counseling at any time, day or night, either by calling the Stand Up Placer 24-hour Helpline at 1-800-575-5352, using our chat feature, or by coming into one of our service offices during business hours: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A trained advocate will assess the survivors’ situations, help them with a safety plan, and go over various options with them.

Yuba County Search and Rescue (YCSAR) is a volunteer organization under the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office that responds to emergencies and disasters. They conduct searches for missing persons, rescues, and evidence recovery using ground teams, ATVs, K-9 units, equine teams, and water rescue specialists. YCSAR also assists with evacuations during disasters and supports community events. Funded by donations and grants, members complete regular training to stay mission-ready.
