The City of Roseville Police Department's Animal Control Officers make every effort to keep the public safe, protect animals, and educate the community to be responsible pet owners.

Placer SPCA is the City's contract shelter. Contact them for lost/found animals, low-cost spay/neuter and vaccine clinics, and pet adoptions. They SPCA not respond to animal issues out in the field, handle enforcement, or removal of dead animals from the roadway or private property.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife maintains and protects the state's fish, wildlife, plant and native habitats. Manages related recreational, commercial, scientific, and educational uses. Works to prevent illegal poaching. Issues wildlife warnings for bears and mountain lions when necessary. CDFW issues hunting and fishing licenses.

To report bear issues

• If actively underway in Nevada County call non-emergency dispatch at 530-265-7880.
• If reporting general bear or other wildlife issues, call the wildlife management line at 916-358-2917.

Yuba Salmon Study

​The goal of the Yuba Salmon Study is to reintroduce salmon to their historical habitats in the Yuba River watershed through a phased, science-based, and cost-effective fish passage project.

Animal Carcass Removal provides legal removal and disposal of deceased animals in Nevada County and surrounding areas. Offers safe and humane carcass removal for animals of all sizes, ensuring proper handling at a dedicated disposal site.

Services include:

• Removal and disposal of deceased animals safely and legally
• Same-day service, seven days a week
• Free estimates for removal services

For dead animals along state highways, CalTrans needs to be contacted. People can call 2-1-1 to be transferred to the appropriate office.

FieldHaven Feline Center provides monthly low-cost vaccination and microchipping clinics for cats and dogs in Lincoln and Yuba County.

Events are held at rotating locations and offer core services such as rabies, distemper, and identification microchips.
