Tahoe Truckee Unified School District offers early learning and care programs to eligible parents and their children ages birth to 5.

Programs include STEPP (Sierra Teen Education Parenting Program), which provides a developmentally appropriate learning environment for children ages 0-3 years in an atmosphere where individual interests and developmental levels are respected and celebrated. The purpose is to create a community of caring for the whole family by providing high quality child care in a safe and nurturing environment, and providing parent education and family support services while parents pursue their career and/or educational goals.

The transitional component of the STEPP program serves student parents who have graduated high school and their children who are age-eligible for our program. The program also serves community members who meet income eligibility requirements.

Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) is providing free "Grab and Go" meals for all children and young adults with disabilities (age 24 and younger). Each Wednesday or Thursday, seven days of meals will be offered including 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, fresh fruits, vegetables, and milk. 1. Any child, aged 18 and younger
2. Any young adult with developmental disabilities aged 24 and younger

Tahoe Truckee Unified School District provides information for planned power outages which are commonly known as Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and/or Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) events. TTUSD has been notified that TTUSD's energy providers may turn off electricity throughout the school district when extreme fire danger conditions are forecast.

Dangerous conditions include:

• Red flag warnings
• Low humidity
• High winds
• Dry conditions

The KidZone Museum is a children’s museum in Truckee. Their mission is to inspire learning through creative play and discovery. Exhibits are optimal for children under age 7 and focus on building cognitive, physical, social, and creative skills through play. Camps and school programs are designed for children through elementary school. Teenagers can gain important service learning experience through volunteering at the museum.

This is a Ready to Grow (R2G) resource. Ready to Grow is a First 5 Nevada County program to connect children 0-5 with services and information that support their well-being. Organizations with programs that have this R2G tag may have additional programs of interest to families.

The Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education Foundation funds programs to enhance public education specifically within the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District.

Teachers in the district can apply for grants to be used for additional enhancements to the public education system. Grants are awarded on a competitive and selective application process.

Provides grants of approximately 1.6 Million dollars annually from the unrestricted fund and from donor advised funds. Grant applications are accepted anytime and reviewed quarterly. Provides technical support including grant writing advice, workshops, one-on-one consultations and facilitation services to nonprofit organizations or community groups.

The Tahoe Truckee Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) is a program of the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation. CAPC's activities are funded by the Children’s Trust Fund in both Placer and Nevada Counties.

CAPC activities include:

• Providing funding for parenting classes
• Staff training
• Community education
• Advocating for child abuse prevention strategies across the region
