The PARTNERS Family Resource Center (FRC) engages and partners with families, educators, and the community to better support children's development, create connections, and increase access to local resources for families in Western Nevada County.

NOTE: The FRC does NOT have any housing resources and does NOT have any gift cards, gas cards, etc.

Here are things the FRC does offer:
  • Provides parenting classes, tutoring services for school-age children, English as a Second Language classes, activities for both parents and children. Playgroup for toddlers and guardians.

The Friendship Club provides a year-round program in Western Nevada County serving girls at risk in grades 6-12. Girls meet after school during the school year, attend field trips and other activities during school breaks, and participate in summer camps and enrichment activities throughout the summer.

Girls are grouped into cohorts by grade level and stay with their group until they graduate high school. Participation is free, as are all the activities, field trips, and camps. Nutritious meals are provided every time girls are with us.

All girls are referred to the program by their schools and other youth-serving professionals during their fifth grade year and start the summer before they enter sixth grade. The goal is for them to participate in the program until they graduate high school. Referrals for girls in other grades are also accepted as long as there is space available in their cohort.

Bright Futures for Youth will open a new NEO Youth Center at the former Silver Springs High School campus near the Nevada County Fairgrounds, providing after-school and occasional weekend activities and events for youth in western Nevada County. The center address is 12338 McCourtney Road in Grass Valley, CA 95949.
 
The new Youth Center is scheduled to open in early 2022, following a modest renovation to the space.
 
The Youth Center will offer youth and young adults a place to socialize, make new friends, explore new interests and passions, and even get help with their homework in a comfortable and safe environment.
 
The Youth Center is available for 11- to 25-year-old residents and will offer a long list of activities and events, from art workshops to live music and open-mic nights in a supervised setting. Camp Woolman is a small community in the Sierra foothills where kids and teens come to hike, swim, make friends, play sports, do art, and much more. The small camp size (24 campers and 7 staff members) ensures that every child is given the attention and encouragement they need to just be themselves and have a great time. Through simple living and joyous adventure in an accepting community, Camp Woolman inspires individuals to value nature, value themselves, and value others in order to build a more peaceful and just world.

This summer camp serves kids and teens ages 9 to 17. One and two-week sessions are available in June and July.

Wombat Campers (ages 9-14) spend half the week living in rustic cabins, and the other half backpacking in nearby areas such as Tahoe National Forest, Desolation Wilderness, and along the Yuba River.
