Each school district and county office of education must designate an educational liaison for foster and homeless youth. The Foster and Homeless Youth Liaison ensures proper educational placement, school enrollment, and checkout from school. Additionally, the Foster and Homeless Youth Liaison assists with the transfer of grades, credits, and records when there is a school change.

The Sierra Community Medical Foundation (SCMF) currently reaches hundreds of people each month in Placer, Nevada, Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties. Part of our work addresses the issues involved with opioid safety and medication-assisted treatment access through the Placer-Nevada Rx Safety Coalition. We are here to help our uninsured and indigent community partners in getting access to education about healthier lifestyles. The Sierra College Undocumented Student Center offers guidance and resources to help empower undocumented students and mixed-status families to meet their higher education and career goals. At the same time, the Center strives to educate our campus community about the needs of undocumented youth and their families through its UndocuAlly training programs.

VIP ManAlive offers Peer Re-Education classes for men to gain an awareness of and learn how to recover from being emotionally, verbally and physically abusive and violent and/or controlling.

Crisis counseling
Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking can obtain crisis counseling at any time, day or night, either by calling the Stand Up Placer 24-hour Helpline at 1-800-575-5352, using our chat feature, or by coming into one of our service offices during business hours: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A trained advocate will assess the survivors’ situations, help them with a safety plan, and go over various options with them.
