Children's Behavioral Health
Nevada County Behavioral Health provides a Children's Mental Health department which serves children and youth who have Nevada County Medi-Cal and meet moderate to severe criteria for Behavioral Health Treatment: recent psychiatric hospitalization, Probation or Child Welfare involvement, significant challenges at school, homelessness, or a complex combination of concerns that may involve trauma, depression or anxiety symptoms, and housing instability.

Treatment location is based on need and can take place at the Nevada County Behavioral Health Office, schools, Family Resource Centers, or other locations convenient for the family. The Nevada County Public Health Department provides a California Children's Services (CCS) treats children with certain physical limitations and chronic conditions or diseases. Most physically handicapped conditions are eligible for benefits under the CCS program. The CCS Program is funded by the state, county, and federal tax money, along with some fees paid by the parents. This tax-supported program authorizes and pays for specific medical services and rehabilitation for children by CCS-approved specialists and has a Medical Therapy Program (MTU). CCS Offers diagnostic and treatment services, medical case management, and therapy for children and youth up to age 21.
