Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) operates temporary Community Resource Centers (CRCs) in Nevada County during Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events. CRCs offer essential services to individuals impacted by power outages initiated for wildfire prevention.

Services include:

• Providing bottled water
• Offering charging stations for small electronic devices
• Operating accessible restrooms
• Offering seating and air-conditioned spaces, depending on location

CRCs are opened only during active PSPS events. Locations, hours of operation, and available services vary by event.

The Penn Valley Fire Protection District (PVFPD) provides fire protection, paramedics and emergency ambulance rescue, residential fire and life inspections, fire information and safety presentations, fire education to the public, and a firefighter intern program for students considering a career in the Fire Services.

The district operates three fire stations, two of which are staffed twenty-four hours a day with a minimum of two personnel. The third station relies on off-duty personnel for staffing.

The Disability Disaster Access and Resources Program (DDAR) a joint effort with the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC) and PG&E to support people with disabilities and older adults before, during, and after a PSPS event.

The program enables qualified customers who use electrical medical devices to access backup portable batteries through a grant, lease-to-own or the FreedomTech low-interest financial loan program.

Transportation resources, lodging and food options are also provided through an online application process to qualified customers. CFILC administers all aspects of the program.

The Department of Housing and Community Development receives and processes complaints from the public and from public officials related to living in manufactured homes and mobile homes. The agency protects families and individuals who live in mobile homes by inspecting mobile home parks for health and safety violations in areas where the local government has not assumed enforcement. HCD further protects consumers by enforcing regulations for those who build and sell manufactured homes.
