The California Department of Managed Health Care help center helps consumers with health care issues and ensures that managed health care patients receive the medical care and services to which they are entitled. Educates consumers regarding non-jurisdictional issues, medical group or health plan closures, community resource referrals, and health plan contact information as well as mailing forms, applications, and informational brochures. The Women of Worth Safe House provides an emergency shelter and transitional housing assisting women and families in crisis, victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Offers support services including legal and medical assistance, advocacy and case management, mentoring and support groups, educational and career assistance, and art therapy for children ages 5-12.

Ready to Grow is a First 5 Nevada County program to connect children 0-5 with services and information that support their well-being. Organizations with programs that have this R2G tag may have additional programs of interest to families.

Nevada County Adult Protective Services (APS) supports older adults and dependent adults who may be experiencing neglect, physical abuse, financial exploitation, or self-neglect. 

APS investigates reports of abuse and provides safety planning, referrals, and case management to protect vulnerable adults who are unable to care for themselves.

Services include:

• Investigating reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older and dependent adults
• Providing referrals to medical, legal, housing, and supportive services
• Developing safety plans and offering crisis intervention
• Coordinating case management to support ongoing needs
• Collaborating with law enforcement and service providers when appropriate
