Located in Nevada City on the first floor of the Nevada County Courthouse, the Law Library collection contains approximately 6,000 volumes of reference materials, including: Nolo Press self-help law books, the Nevada County Codes, California Code, State Supreme and Appellate court reports, and the Municipal Codes of Grass Valley, Nevada City, and Truckee.


The Self-Help Center is located adjacent to the Law Library. Placer County’s Business Advantage Network in association with Legal Services of Northern California offers a monthly Clean Slate Clinic to assist participants in removing or dismissing past convictions from their records.

Eligible participants are those who:
  • Have no pending charges
  • Are not on parole or have completed at least half of their probation term
  • Have documentation of their criminal record either through court records (if they have only 1 to 2 convictions and no other arrest) or RAP Sheet (preferable)
  • All fines, fees, and restitution have been completely paid or will soon be.
