How customers can prepare
As part of PSPS preparedness efforts, PG&E is asking customers to:
- Update your contact information at pge.com/mywildfirealerts or by calling 1-866-743-6589 during normal business hours. PG&E will use this information to alert customers through automated calls, texts, and emails, when possible, prior to, and during, a Public Safety Power Shutoff.

211-ROTATING POWER OUTAGES

211 Connecting Point provides information about rotating power outages / rolling blackouts.
During heatwaves, the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), the organization that runs the state’s electric grid, can call for rotating outages statewide to protect the stability of the grid. All utilities in the state – including PG&E may be called on to participate.

These outages typically last between 1 to 3 hours for most customers. These are not Public Safety Power Shutoffs due to extreme fire danger, and are not related to any issues with PG&E’s equipment or its ability to deliver energy locally.
