Community Beyond Violence offers a 24 hour crisis line which is available 365 days a year to victims in crisis from domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or dating violence, and for their friends or family members. Advocate/Counselors are available 24 hours a day for counseling and response to the hospital or law enforcement. Depending on circumstances, possible emergency transportation, food, and shelter may be available to those in crisis. All services are free, confidential and non-discriminatory.

The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Penn Valley offers an Emergency Food Distribution on Thursdays from 9:30-11:30am at 17645 Penn Valley Drive, Penn Valley, CA 95946.

Emergency Food is a bag of dried, non-perishable food (2-3 day supply) intended to tide someone over to the next regular food distribution by the Food Bank of Nevada County or Interfaith Food Ministry.

People from anywhere in Nevada County are eligible for emergency food and for the Food Bank of Nevada County regular distributions.

Holiday trees can be disposed of in two easy ways:
  1. Cut and place in Green Waste Cart: Holiday trees can be cut into small sections and placed in your green waste cart. Please make sure the lid on the cart can close. 
  2. Take Trees to Designated WM Recycling sites: Waste management will be providing Free Holiday/Christmas Tree Recycling for Nevada County residents. You can take whole trees (free of all tinsel, snow flocking, decorations, and metal stands) to specified locations.

Auburn Interfaith Food Closet (AIFC) provides a Homebound Delivery Program (HBSD) - Since 2020, AIFC has a new program to deliver groceries once a month to low-income homebound persons (within their service area). AIFC will provide HBSD participants with enough food each month to make 12 nutritious meals. 

The home delivery service is not on-demand, but occurs monthly on a pre-established schedule. Each guest's order is customized monthly, to best serve their needs.

Amount of food
Each month, HBSD participants receive four days' worth of age-appropriate food for each member of their household.

Recology Auburn Placer provides residential and commercial yard waste, recycling, and garbage collection to the communities of Auburn, Colfax, Rocklin, the Town of Loomis, and Unincorporated Placer County. The City of Roseville has its own waste services division. The City of Lincoln is served by Waste Management, Inc.

Sharps

All sharps waste must be transported to a collection center in an approved sharps container. Home-generated sharps waste includes hypodermic needles, syringes, and lancets that are used for medical purposes. Sharps in approved biohazard containers can be brought to the Recology Auburn Placer Transfer Station for safe disposal.

Visit the Placer-Nevada Rx Drug Safety Coalition for additional free year-round medical drop-off sites.
