Medi-Cal assistance is available through Human Services, one of six Divisions of County of Placer Health & Human Services.

Medi-Cal offers medical, dental, vision and mental health care to eligible individuals and families at little or no cost. If you are ineligible to Medi-Cal, affordable insurance plans are available through the health benefits exchange, Covered California, during their November through December open enrollment.

Any individual aged 16+ experiencing a mental health crisis can call the County's 24-hour, 7-day a week response line at 916-787-8860 or (toll free) 888-886-5401. A trained professional will listen and assist you.

Crisis Intervention Services and Assessments

Trained and caring Placer County Mental Health professionals provide crisis intervention services and assessments for adults and children at locations throughout Placer County as follows:

  • Local emergency departments such as Sutter Roseville Medical Center, Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital, and Tahoe Forest Hospital
  • Auburn and South Placer jails
  • Juvenile Detention center

Placer County Adult System of Care provides Substance Use Disorder Services to support residents in recovery from substance use.

Services include:

  • Individual and group treatment
  • Case management and recovery support
  • Outpatient and residential services
  • Referrals to detox programs and medically assisted treatment
  • Coordination with mental health and housing programs, as needed

Note:

Pregnant and parenting substance users, including IV drug users, receive priority admission to services and treatment. For more details, see Perinatal Substance Use Services.

The Placer County Public Health Division provides Public Health Nursing services for women, children, older adults, and people with mental or physical health needs. 

Services are delivered by registered nurses with additional training in community and public health. Nurses offer in-home care, health education, and preventive support.

Program details include:

  • Health education and support for families
  • Mental health and elder care outreach

The Placer County Children's Mental Health Crisis Services provides behavioral services for children.  Assessments for non-crisis intensive Mental Health Services are provided by Masters-level professional clinicians in all geographic areas of Placer County, including Auburn, Roseville, Lincoln, and King’s Beach.

Self-referred individuals or families will either have an appointment scheduled with the Children’s Mental Health Unit, with an organizational provider, an MFT or LCSW in the Placer County Network, or they will be linked to another appropriate community or agency provider depending on needs and insurance coverage.
