Nevada County Citizens for Choice is the local partner of Women's Health Specialists, which provides reproductive healthcare clinic services in Grass Valley. The clinic provides confidential, affordable services to all people of reproductive age including contraception, pregnancy testing and all-options consultations, early abortion care, medication abortion, STI-HIV testing and STI treatment, gynecological exams and gender-affirming care.

Telehealth services are available by appointment.

Citizens for Choice also engages in outreach and education, public policy advocacy to promote reproductive health and justice, and works to promote comprehensive sex education in schools.

Nevada County Superintendent of Schools sponsors the Family Resource Centers (FRCs).

They're intended to meet the needs of all families in the region, not just those whose children attend school at that location.

Each of the Family Resource Centers offers the following core services:

  • Parenting Classes
  • Lending Libraries for children and adults
  • ASQ's
  • Child Development Information and parenting support
  • Playgroups
  • Clothes Closet
  • Computer support including printers and fax
  • Food Pantry in San Juan Ridge
  • Diapers
  • Spanish speaking staff
  • Information and referrals for children and parents

They help parents find support and services they need. They make referrals and can direct parents and help navigate community services. Services are free of charge and families are encouraged to drop in during operating hours.
