The Nevada County Public Health Department’s Suicide Prevention Education Program seeks to reduce the factors that increase suicide risk while increasing the factors that protect people from suicide. We do this through:

  • Outreach, education and training about suicide prevention
  • Coordinating the Suicide Prevention Task Force, a community collaborative working to reduce suicides in Western Nevada County
  • Participate in and support the Tahoe-Truckee Suicide Prevention Coalition

Placer County Public Health Department (PCPHD) partners with medical care providers in the community, and the California Department of Public Health, to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases. We investigate and follow-up on reported cases and their contacts. In the US, immunizations have reduced or eliminated many infectious diseases that once routinely killed or harmed many infants, children, and adults. However, the viruses and bacteria that cause immunization-preventable disease and death still exist and can be passed on to people who are not protected by immunizations.

Placer County residents can get assistance scheduling flu and COVID-19 vaccine appointments by calling 211 or 833-342-5211, unless they are insured by Kaiser Permanente, in which case they need to schedule directly with Kaiser at kp.org.
