The Penn Valley PARTNERS Family Resource Center (FRC) provides a place for families to connect, learn, and play. Assists families with child development, parenting support, counseling, education, employment tools, and community resources. It also offers playgroups for families with children ages 0-5.

Note:

  • The FRC does not have any housing resources and does NOT have any gift cards, gas cards, etc.
  • The FRC does offer public use computers, resource and lending libraries, Spanish language translation services, a play area, diapers, laundry vouchers, ASQ's, children's and a clothes closet.

FREED provides assistance in finding accessible and affordable housing.

Services include:

  • Help in developing housing search strategies
  • Information about Section 8 and other subsidized and low income housing
  • Information and referrals to other community housing resources
  • Help in filling out apartment application forms
  • Assistance in understanding your housing rights as a person with a disability

FREED also offers a weekly Housing Club that provides information, resources and assistance for seniors and people with disabilities (any age) seeking support finding housing.

The Housing Club meets every Monday from 2-4pm. No appointment is needed.

Placer Independent Resource Services (PIRS) offers free services that support independent living for people with disabilities in Placer, El Dorado, and Alpine counties.

Services include:

  • Coordination of assistive technology, including computer access aids
  • Peer support and independent living skills training
  • Personal assistant referrals
  • Application assistance for SSI, SSDI, Medi-Cal, CalFresh, IHSS, and housing-related forms
  • Housing and transportation information and advocacy
  • Minor home modifications and mobility aid lending (ask for Helene at 530-885-6100 x28)
  • Transition support for community-based living, institutional diversion, and youth to adulthood
  • Technical assistance on disability access
  • Community education, outreach, and advocacy
  • ADRC Options Counseling (Navigator role in Placer County)
  • Older Adult Walking Club
