This resource provides information about bus fares and passes for Nevada County Connects, the public bus system serving Western Nevada County.
Discounted fare cards are available for eligible seniors, individuals with disabilities, and youth passengers. Children aged 5 years and younger ride free.
Discounted Fare Eligibility:
- Seniors (65+): Must present a valid state Driver’s License, photo ID card, or Medicare card (not Medi-Cal).
- Golden Ticket Pass (80+): Lifetime pass for seniors aged 80 and older, offering unlimited free rides on all Nevada County Connects routes. Available to Nevada County residents with proof of age (valid California ID card or Driver’s License). Not applicable to Nevada County Now paratransit services.
- People with Disabilities: Must present one of the following:
- DMV printout showing name for DMV Disabled placard.
- Valid Medicare card (not Medi-Cal).
- ADA Paratransit eligibility card from Nevada County Transit Services.
- ADA or Disabled ID eligibility document from another transit agency.
- Veteran’s ID card marked "SERVICE CONNECTED" or a Department of Veterans Affairs disabled veteran letter.
- Personal Care Attendant (PCA) fare waived when traveling with a passenger holding an approved Travel with PCA-ADA Paratransit Eligibility Card.
- Youth (6-17): Must present school or age ID.
Low-Income Bus Pass Referral Program:
Available to Western Nevada County residents referred by a partner agency verifying annual income between 138% - 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Eligibility lasts for six months. After that, a new referral form must be submitted by the referring agency.
