The Placer County Community Development Agency (PCCDA) has the following Departments:

  1. Building Services Division
    The Building Services Division (aka the Placer County Building Department) is available to provide and process building permits, review plans, and inspect construction in the unincorporated areas of Placer County to verify that work complies with building codes for safe and habitable structures.
  2. Code Compliance
    Placer County Code Compliance Services enforce regulations related to a variety of land use issues and provide assistance to other County departments as needed.
  3. Engineering and Surveying
    The Engineering and Surveying Division relies on the requirements included in the Placer County Land Development Manual, adopted for the purpose of establishing minimum standards for the design and construction of development improvements.
  4. Environmental Coordination Services
    Environmental Coordination Services was established to coordinate the environmental review process in Placer County. Most land development projects require some level of environmental review in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and this office ensures that projects in environmental review stay on track with time frames established by both the County and State of California.
  5. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Division
    Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is used to enhance decision making and provide maps and information to the public and County agencies.
  6. Planning Services Division
    The Planning Services Division assists the Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission in planning for growth, enforces the Placer County Zoning Ordinance, maintains information on land development and zoning, and reviews and makes recommendations on land development applications.
  7. Public Works
    Public Works is responsible for maintaining county infrastructure along with solid waste and wastewater.
