AMI Housing, Inc (AMIH) is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides housing, employment and life skills programs to residents of Nevada County and Placer County who otherwise might be homeless. AMIH also manages and operates Nevada County Housing Development Corporation. Offers assistance in multiple languages through a Language Line service.

AMIH’s programs can help people who are low income and are homeless, or at risk of homelessness. Any rent payment assistance help is based on their income and need. Some people get help with the security deposit, first month’s rent, and then a few months of rental assistance. Others get help for longer and some for shorter period of time. The extent of rental assistance depends on the individual and their need. A housing counselor may be able to help them find a suitable and affordable apartment in Nevada County.

Placer County residents must be screened by 211 for eligibility in order to be considered for Housing Coordination services from AMI Housing.  Call 2-1-1 to be screened for a possible CE intake.

This program may be able to help Transition Age Youth (TAY) in Nevada County, but there is not a specifically funded AMIH program just for TAY in Nevada County (as there is in Placer County).

NOTE: Once AMI receives a referral, it may take 1-2 weeks for referred people to hear from AMI.
