Placer County Housing Authority (within Placer's Human Services division), as well as Roseville Housing Authority, offer the Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program. Call 2-1-1 to see if you qualify and to receive assistance with your application process.

UPDATE: The Rent Help Placer Application Window Has Closed
April 30, 2021 was the last day to initiate an application for the Rent Help Placer program. If you started the Rent Help Placer process prior to May 1, 2021 and have been pre-qualified, you can still gather and submit your paperwork to participate in the program.

ERA Information
The Placer County Housing Authority and Roseville Housing Authority are offering rental assistance as well as utility assistance.
  • The Emergency Rental Assistance program does not jeopardize other federal or state benefits.
  • The ERA program (or ERAP) is for qualifying households who have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • ERAP provides payment assistance for renters who need help with rent and utilities. ERAP provides qualifying households with up to 12 months of assistance, plus an additional 3 months if the grantee determines the extra months are needed to ensure housing stability. Eligible applicants can receive assistance for past rent and utilities owed from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021 and may qualify to have a portion of their rent paid for April, May, and June of 2021.
  • All information about the program, including eligibility, required paperwork, and the application can be found at RentHelpPlacer.com or by calling 211 Placer at 2-1-1 (or 833-342-5211).

ERAP is available in:
  • Placer County, CA

To see if a similar program is available in your county, visit California's Housing Is Key website at http://housingiskey.com/ or call the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief Call Center at 833-430-2122.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the program, an individual or family must be renting or leasing a unit within the county (including Roseville city limits), among other criteria. Call 2-1-1 to see if you qualify.

To Apply
Households interested in applying for rental assistance through the ERA program may call 211 Placer to speak with operators who can screen callers’ eligibility and refer to the county or city housing authority for an application.

Application deadline was April 30, 2021.

To Renew Applications
If you have been approved for the ERA program, or are already participating in this program, and you've received an email or paper mail from Placer County Housing Authority with a website link to renew your application, please contact Placer County Housing Authority directly. The purpose of application renewals is to update or verify your income and other eligibility information so that your household may receive an additional 3 months of rental assistance payments. This entails a shorter application process through the same portal used for your initial ERA application.

Questions
If assistance is needed with answering any questions regarding the ERA pre-screenings or ERA application (which is received after pre-screenings are submitted), inquirers may contact the Placer County Housing Authority or the Roseville Housing Authority (when applicable).
