Who can receive COVID-19 vaccines through Safeway pharmacies?

Eligibility is determined by state and local health departments based on recommendations from the CDC. Please check your state or health department website for prioritization criteria and timing.

Will COVID-19 vaccines be offered to the general public?

Yes. The COVID-19 vaccine should be available for most adults this year. Adults that fall into a higher risk category, as designated by the CDC and state and local health departments, will have access to the vaccine first.

How many doses is the COVID-19 vaccine?

Both the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines are 2 doses separated by 28 or 21 days respectively. You should not get your second dose earlier than recommended however, there is no maximum interval. You should get your second dose as close to the recommended interval as possible to be protected sooner. A series started with one product must be completed with the same product.

Is the vaccine free?

Yes, immunizations will be available at no cost to patients.

What do I bring to my appointment? 

Please bring proof of insurance to your appointment, including any Medicare, Medicaid, pharmacy, and medical cards. If you do not have insurance, please bring a state ID/driver’s license (if available).
