PLACER COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH
Placer County provides Tick identification through Placer County Mosquito and Vector Control however, Placer County does not provide Tick testing (for Lyme Disease). Placer County Public Health Department refers people to other labs for tick identification and Immunofluorescence assay (IFA) for Borrelia burgdorferi (which can cause Lyme disease).

Testing of ticks is generally not recommended due to the following:
If you develop a rash or fever within several weeks of removing a tick or have any other concerns, see your doctor. Be sure to tell the doctor about your recent tick bite, when the bite occurred, and where you most likely acquired the tick.
