Kick It California is a a free program that helps Californians kick smoking, vaping, and smokeless tobacco with the help of proven, science-based strategies.

Getting scheduled

After caller agrees to a referral and it is submitted, KIC should be calling in the next couple days. When they call, they will not be expecting to do the counseling call with you at that time. Instead, on that call they will confirm that you want to do it and set up a day and time that will work for you.

Protocol for receiving a gift card

Clients need to enroll. The referral does not count as the enrollment, there are additional questions they need to answer. Clients need to finish at least one coaching session (10minutes minimum). Clients may confuse an intake session with a coaching/counseling call. If this occurs, they can contact KIC directly to sort things out, or 211 can refer them again so KIC coaches can reach out and continue work with them.

KIC Helpline​

The Helpline offers telephone counseling to develop an individualized quitting plan for stopping tobacco use. Services are available in multiple languages and special services are available for tobacco chewers, pregnant smokers, teens and e-cigarette users. Counselors are available Monday to Friday from 7am to 9pm and Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Offers text message support each day during the first important weeks of quitting.
