AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers provide free tax preparation services and electronic filing of both Federal and California tax returns.

This service is provided to Nevada County residents. People do not need to be AARP members to use the service. Although there are no upper or lower income or age limits for Tax-Aide assistance, the program has a focus on taxpayers who are 60 and older and have low to moderate income.

The Tax-Aide group can prepare most common personal tax returns, including those that have wages, interest, dividends, itemized deductions, pension, and IRA withdrawals.

Appointments for 2025 tax returns can be scheduled every Monday from February 3rd to April 14th. You can schedule any of the following ways:

  • A limited number of Saturday appointments will be available at the Nevada County Contractors Association offices and can be scheduled at tinyurl.com/GrassValleyTaxSaturday
  • To schedule an appointment, call Grass Valley Tax Aide at 530-205-3555. The number is a voicemail line where you can leave your contact details and preferred appointment date and time. Appointments are primarily available on Mondays, with limited Saturday openings.
