During the COVID-19 pandemic, services are being provided by phone and email only.

The Self-Help Center provides the resources citizens need to better understand the legal process and/or represent themselves in a court case. In addition to the Services and Resources listed below, the Center provides the services of the Family Law Facilitator and Small Claims Advisor.

We are a walk in clinic. All services are free of charge and offered on a first come/first served basis. We do charge a small fee for copies and form packets.

The Self-Help Center also provides information and education on Alternative Dispute Resolution.  This alternative form of civil litigation is less formal, less expensive and often a faster method to resolve a conflict between two parties.

Services to residents of Truckee or Sierra Counties are available either in person or by phone.
  • By Phone - call the number to the right and leave a specific question - include your case number if you have one. We attempt to return calls within one week
  • In person - we offer monthly drop in clinics on the last Friday of the month (9:00 am – 1:30 pm) at the Truckee Courthouse.
