The Nevada County Connects public buses provide fixed route transit services in Western Nevada County.

  • Route maps and bus schedules are available on the website.
  • Info about fares and passes is on the website. People who have EBT cards may be eligible for bus passes on Nevada County Connects. Contact your worker via the Nevada County Department of Social Services to find out.
  • The Transit app provides real-time info for bus locations.
  • Google Transit Trip Planner - Information for the western Nevada County public transit system is available in the Google Maps app for trip planning in our community. To access this tool with a mobile device, visit Google Maps and select the public transit option or use it on the Nevada County Connects Trip Planner web page.
  • Rider's Guides with a system map, bus schedules, and general information can be picked at local public libraries, Nevada City City Hall, Grass Valley City Hall, Nevada City Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce.
  • Nevada County Connects Route 5 travels to the Auburn Station for connections to Placer County Transit, Auburn Transit, Sacramento Light Rail, and Amtrak Thruway bus service as connecting schedules allow.
  • Paratransit and senior dial-a-ride transportation services are available through Nevada County Now (formerly Gold Country Lift)

Evacuation orders and animals
In the event of evacuation for an emergency, Nevada County Connects bus service (formerly Gold Country Stage) and Nevada County Now paratransit service (formerly Gold Country Lift) provide transportation for evacuees with animals as follows (NOTE: this could be superseded by the Nevada County Office of Emergency Services):
  • Service dogs are allowed.
  • Non-service animals are allowed if the following criteria are met. Size requirement: animals must be in a leak proof cage that is carried and controlled by their owner. No "type of animal" restrictions (birds, snakes, and others are welcome). No large non-service animals allowed who cannot be carried (e.g., horses, cows).
